START IT TODAY!
Let me start today’s series by repeating a question by Andre
Gide: “Can man discover new oceans if he has no courage to lose sight of the
shore?” Everyone started somewhere. You might wish to start small from a bigger
dream or start big from a smaller dream. Go ahead and think big, r-e-e-a-a-a-l
big! Visualize your destination, but be willing to humble yourself to start
small and grow. It's a principle that cannot fail. Nature expressly teaches
that a single acorn seed would sure grow into a forest of mighty oaks. To bring
your understanding to the minutest: you started as a baby and grew into an
adult. Today, majority of us are magnificently obsessed by our accomplishments.
Quite often, the endemic unwillingness within the middle class
to take risks has made it impossible to leave the corporate cocoons and start
one's own businesses even when that is what we want to do. Can you achieve your
dreams if you don't have the courage to take the first step - even the smallest
one? There is still time to shape tomorrow – no matter your age or
circumstances – if you start today.
So if you desire to finish big, you have no
option but to start small on a strong foundation and build. Since you have to
start somewhere, start at the level you are right now. Benjamin Franklin said,
“I judged it would be well not to distract my attention by attempting the whole
at once, but to fix it on one of them at a time. Like him who, having a garden
to weed, does not attempt to eradicate all the bad herbs at once, which would
exceed his reach and his strength, but works on one of the beds at a time, and,
having accomplished the first, proceeds to a second.”
Start it today. It is the best place to start. Little by little,
day by day, week by week, be committed. So I echo the philosophical vibration
of Theodore Roosevelt, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”. Take
responsibility for your actions and stay focused. As you accomplish a task at
one level, you'll be promoted to the next. Your promotion comes from no one but
Him alone who rewards. Sometimes your somewhere might just be a little push or
gnawing or word of knowledge or direct prophecy to jerk you out of
procrastination and sometimes it might be encouraging words from your spouse,
friend(s), parent, brother, sister and even your foes. Yes, your adversary
might despitefully speak the 'bitter truth' to you, but choose to alter that
'truth' to engender a positive attitude in order to convert the challenge to an
empowering inner dialogue. As you learn to do this, you have succeeded in
demobilizing a hitherto negative reaction and transform your attitude into
action through self-awareness. CULLED FROM THE BOOK:
ACHIEVE AT YOUR LEVEL.
